About R1edu.org

R1edu.org provides students easy access to high-quality distance learning programs from world-class institutions. It provides a one-stop portal to the most innovative distance learning programs at some of the most respected schools in North America.

R1edu.org directs students to participating institutions' distance learning course information. R1edu.org is not a degree-, certificate-, or diploma-granting institution.

Participating institutions in R1edu.org are members of the Association of American Universities and are classified as "Research Universities I" by the Carnegie Foundation.

"Research Universities I" institutions offer a full range of baccalaureate programs and give a high priority to research. There are currently 88 public and private universities that qualify as "R1" institutions.

The Association of American Universities consists of 63 universities. The association develops national policy positions and provides a forum for discussing issues such as undergraduate education.

Participating R1edu.org schools also belong to the Internet 2 group and use its high-speed capabilities to deliver programs around the globe.

This project has been designed and coordinated by the University of Washington. For more information about R1edu.org, contact David Szatmary, vice provost, University of Washington, by email or call (206) 685-6313.
